China Telecom, How to Contact Customer Service to Apply for a Public IP
Currently, among the three major carriers in China, China Telecom has the most abundant 公网IP.
However, as global IPv4 resources have been completely exhausted, even the wealthy families are running out of grain.
Recent Situation
In recent years, China Telecom’s home broadband in various regions has secretly changed the assigned 公网IP to a 内网IP in the 10.xxx.xxx.xxx range. (China Unicom and China Mobile’s home broadband are not worth discussing, as they have always been 内网IP, and there’s no room for negotiation)
Without 公网IP, services like NAS and others can no longer be accessed from external networks, which has a significant impact.
So how do you talk to a customer service representative to get back the 公网IP you once had?
Solution
Call 10000 or contact customer service through the 电信营业厅APP, telling them that your home security camera cannot be used and you need a public IP.
- Notes:
- Under no circumstances should you mention that you need to set up a
NASor build aWebwebsite, as this violates the service agreement. - If the customer service representative doesn’t understand, simply request an on-site service visit; tell the on-site technician the same reason - the camera doesn’t work.
- After obtaining an external IP, it is recommended to get the password for the China Telecom optical modem’s
telecomadminaccount, then enter the optical modem and change it to桥接mode, and use your own路由器forPPPoEdial-up. If you’ve forgotten thePPPoEdial-up username and password, you can also contact customer service to retrieve them.
